Description
The 2024 1/4 Troy Ounce Gold Maple Leaf coin, minted by The Royal Canadian Mint, is the second smallest version of Canada's premier bullion coin. In production since 1979, the coin originally featured a fineness of .999, which was increased to .9999 in 1982. Occasionally, special editions with a .99999 (five nines) fineness are released. The reverse side of the 2024 coin showcases the iconic Canadian Maple Leaf design along with its weight and fineness. A recent security feature is the addition of a small Maple Leaf engraved with the last two digits of the year of issue. The obverse side features the portrait of King Charles III. This coin is legal tender in Canada.
While primarily bullion coins, these pieces are often purchased as collectibles and investment items.
