The 2022 1 Troy Ounce Gold Britannia coin, minted by The Royal Mint in Llantrisant, South Wales, stands as the UK’s premier bullion coin. Britannia coins have been produced since 1987, initially in 22-carat .9167 fineness and, since 2013, in 24-carat .9999 fineness.

The reverse side of the 2019 coin features Philip Nathan's iconic image of Britannia set against a sunburst background, along with the coin’s weight and fineness. The obverse showcases Jody Clark's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on a guilloche design background and indicates the monetary value of 100 Pounds. The distinct backgrounds on the obverse and reverse sides have been added as security features. This coin is recognized as legal tender in the UK.
